The Malaysian government remains steadfast in its decision to enforce a complete ban on e-cigarettes and vape products
Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad confirmed that a Cabinet Memorandum regarding the ban is currently being finalised and is expected to be tabled early next year, as reported by the New Straits Times.
Speaking after a visit to Hospital Permai today, 16 December, he expressed confidence that the prohibition would be implemented as soon as possible, targeting a timeline between mid-2026 and the end of next year.

The urgency stems from rising health concerns, particularly the discovery of vape liquids contaminated with dangerous substances like synthetic cannabis
To navigate the complexities of this policy, a special committee chaired by senior health officials is currently studying the social and legal implications.
As previously outlined to the Dewan Negara, the ban is set to be rolled out in phases, starting with open-system devices before eventually covering all types of vaping products.
