During his speech on Tuesday, he directly told President Barack Obama, "You can go to hell" over the U.S. president's reproval towards his [war on drugs] (http://says.com/ph/news/duterte-s-war-on-drugs-featured-on-time-magazine).
It was remembered that Obama told the press on
5 September that there should be a due process before engaging in the fight against drugs
"**The issues of how we approach fighting crime and drug-trafficking is a serious one for all of us and we gotta do it the right way**," said Obama to the press, according to a previous report from [SAYS] (http://says.com/ph/news/digong-to-obama-i-am-no-american-puppet).
Upon hearing Obama's statement, Duterte retaliated and answered, saying: "**Who is he? I am no American puppet. I am a President of a sovereign country and we have long ceased to be a colony. I do not have any master except the Filipino people**."

"**You must be respectful. Do not just throw away questions and statements. Son of a bitch, I'll curse you in front of that forum**," added the Philippine President.
Since [Duterte took office in June] (http://says.com/ph/news/richard-branson-says-duterte-s-campaign-to-end-drug-crime-is-bound-to-fail), he has had an uneasy relationship with the U.S. and with Obama
Duterte has declared intentions to bolster relations with China and Russia as he revamps Philippine foreign policy that has long leaned on Washington, according to the [Telegraph] (http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/10/05/rodrigo-duterte-tells-barack-obama-to-go-to-hell/).
"**For the life of me, I'd rather kneel before the king of Brunei or Thailand but I will never before the Americans. When you're at the receiving end of an uncontrollable wrath, the only way out is through insult. That was my retaliation to them.** *Sabi ko putang ina ninyo* (I said, 'Your mother is a whore!')," said Duterte.
The President doubted whether the Americans would sacrifice their lives for the Philippines
"**You can go to hell, State Department, you can go to hell Obama. You can go to hell EU (European Union), you can choose purgatory because hell is full. Why will I be afraid of you?**" added Duterte.

He cited the war games, which he believed benefited only the Americans because the weapons being used were incompatible and therefore useless for the the country's military.
"**I really lost my faith in the Americans**," said Duterte, according to [Inquirer] (http://globalnation.inquirer.net/146114/duterte-explains-why-ill-never-kneel-before-americans).
In a later speech at a synagogue in Makati City, Duterte added that he may eventually decide to "break up with America"
Duterte vowed that "**eventually I might, in my time, I will break up with America. I would rather go to Russia and to China**."

However, White House spokesman Josh Earnest said that the U.S. government had not received any request from Duterte or another Philippine official to change bilateral cooperation
"This is an alliance that is robust and that benefits both of our countries. Even as we protect this strong alliance, the administration and the United States of America will not hesitate to raise our concerns about extra-judicial killings," Earnest said, according to the AP.
"We remain deeply concerned by reports of widespread extrajudicial killings by or at the behest of government authorities in the Philippines. The use of that kind of tactic is entirely inconsistent with universal human rights and the shared values of our two countries."
