A man discovered 10g of gold particles inside a duck's stomach while preparing it for a family dinner

According to South China Morning Post, the rare find by the man in Hunan, China, is valued at 12,000 yuan (RM6,900).

It's believed to have come from a historical mining site in Longhui county where the bird was foraging.

Liu made the discovery in February 2026 while slaughtering the duck

The shimmering grains were confirmed to be genuine gold after a successful burn test.

It is a rare find that has left the local community, and the Internet, absolutely stunned.

Liu's ducks were raised free-range near the Chenshui River, a site known for its local gold rush between the 1970s and the '90s

The bird likely swallowed mud containing the precious metal while foraging.

Staff from the Longhui County Natural Resources Bureau stated that such discoveries are entirely possible.

Last year, other villagers reportedly found over 10g of gold while washing sand by the same river.

While the discovery is lucky, experts warn that the duck's body cannot digest or absorb gold

Larger or impure pieces could cause intestinal blockages, infections, or poisoning in both animals and humans.

The story has gone viral on mainland social media, racking up over 10 million views.
