Cover image via FacebookThe driver who injured four Malaysian Paralympian cyclists and their head coach has been arrested after he turned himself in at the Kampung Baru Subang police station at around 3pm yesterday
[According to the police](https://www.themalaysianinsight.com/s/13838/), **the driver was attempting to switch lanes before hitting the cyclists and fled the scene after**. However, Kuala Selangor OCPD Supt Ruslan Abdullah was quoted by The Star Online, saying that **the incident is not a hit-and-run**, adding that the earlier confusion was caused by a wrong car registration number.
*"We initially thought it was a hit and run but upon further checks, we found that the driver had come forward to the Kampung Baru Subang police station at around 3pm.*
*"We plan to charge him on Friday. The case is being investigated under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act for careless driving,"* Ruslan told[ The Star Online](http://www.thestar.com.my/news/nation/2017/09/07/arrested-driver-who-hit-paralympian-cyclists/).
The 46-year-old was brought to the Kuala Selangor police district headquarters at about 5.30pm, where he underwent a urine test
Police are investigating the case under Section 43 of the Road Transport Act 1987 for careless driving. Section 43 of the Act stipulates that anyone found guilty of careless driving, or without reasonable consideration for other road users, shall be punished with a minimum RM4,000 fine but not exceeding RM10,000.
As per the Act, those found guilty were also liable to a maximum of 12 months' jail.
Earlier today, the driver was charged at Kuala S'gor Magistrate's Court with dangerous driving, reported NST Online
The accident, which occurred around 10.45am at Km12.6 when the cyclists were cycling from Ijok, Kuala Selangor towards Rawang, has left the four Malaysian Paralympian cyclists with multiple injuries
