A Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) helicopter crashed into the waters near Gelang Patah this morning, 10 July, during a simulation exercise for a multilateral nuclear security event
The incident, captured on video near the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) jetty, happened during an honour flypast conducted as part of the Multilateral Nuclear Security Detection Exercise (MITSATOM 2025), which involves Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Singapore.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM), the helicopter involved was an AS355N with the registration number 9M-PHG.
It had departed from the Tanjung Kupang police station at 9.51am with five people on board, including the pilot, according to a Bernama journalist who was at the scene and reportedly witnessed the crash.

All five individuals were safely rescued by marine police and immediately brought ashore to the MMEA jetty
They have since been transferred to Sultanah Aminah Hospital in Johor Bahru for medical examination and treatment, reported the national news agency.
"Further investigation will be conducted by the Air Accident Investigation Bureau under the Transport Ministry," CAAM said in a statement.
