Report from [ABS-CBN News](http://news.abs-cbn.com/video/focus/08/15/16/marcos-ninakaw-ang-kwento-ng-bayani-ng-bessang-pass) says that former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr.'s biography entail that he was the hero of Battle of Bessang Pass, an idea refuted by the man who claims that his father is the real hero
Ferdinand Marcos claimed to have been awarded 27 war medals, mainly for what he contributed in the Japanese war back in 1942 to 1945 said in an article of Raissa Robles
**Dr. Ricardo T. Jose, a war historian confirmed he once saw a display of these medals inside Malacañang Palace. But he noted that "quite a number" of them were campaign medals "given to all veterans of certain campaigns", such as the World War II Medal, Philippine Defense Medal, American Defense Medal and Victory Medal.**
Recently shared in Youtube, one man has spoken to ABS-CBN to prove that the claim of the late dictator as the hero of the Battle of Bessang Pass is not true at all — no other than Col. Rigor's Son, Manuel Rigor
**According to Rigor, their family is just like any average family who kept their lives in private. "Quiet lang kami…but when ghost writers wrote books, claiming that Marcos was the hero of Bessang Pass… *Medyo umaalma-alma na kami*. Cannot be, because Dad is the hero of Bessang Pass. We rightfully claim that, and he can't do that to us (Marcos). We have the proof."**
Marcos even gave a euology speech on Rigor's funeral rites, when he died of heart attack back in 1960
In Robles's blog, she detailed her interview with Dr. Jose, who gave a blow-by-blow account about what Marcos has done during the said years

After President Rodrigo Roa Duterte allowed the interment of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. at Libingan ng mga Bayani, the issue with regards to it was like fire added with fuel – it made a blaze in the news headlines
President Rodrigo Duterte said he is only following the law by allowing the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos' burial at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, which has been set on September 18 said a report of [ABS-CBN News](http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/08/11/16/duterte-follow-the-law-on-heros-burial-for-marcos)..
Duterte, on the sidelines of his meeting with Olympic silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz in Davao city, said **Marcos was a former president and soldier, even if he was not a hero.**
"The law is there existing. You read it a thousand times and you still arrive at a conclusion that he is qualified. Even if he is not a hero, he was a soldier," he said.
Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) guidelines allow former soldiers to be buried at the Libingan ng mga Bayani.
While the propositions keep on pushing that Marcos Sr.'s being a former president and a soldier give him the privilege to be laid in the resting ground for heroes and presidents, the oppositions seek every detail on the veracity of his claims
Remember when there were 1,500 protesters who showed off with a large streamer that reads, "MARCOS NOT A HERO"? The organizers of the said rally launched the signature campaign, Citizens' Assembly Against The Marcos Burial In LNMB hoping that it would impede the burial set on September.
