A crematorium worker in Chonburi, Thailand resorted to bringing a coffin to a petrol station to prove he needed diesel for a funeral after staff refused to fill his containers due to fuel rationing

According to Khaosod English, the 48-year-old man, identified as Preecha, shared his frustration on social media after being turned away despite explaining the diesel was needed for a cremation.

He later returned to the station with the deceased in a coffin at the back of a hearse, along with three empty 18-litre containers

He reportedly parked at the pump and opened the coffin to demonstrate to the urgency of his request.

After consulting their manager, the station staff eventually agreed to fill his containers.

Preecha later said he had been buying diesel in containers from the same station for years without issue

However, recent fuel shortages linked to global conflicts have led to strict rationing measures, with stations refusing container sales to prevent hoarding.

"I really needed the fuel for a cremation today," he said, stressing that he had no intention of stockpiling diesel and only brought the coffin to prove his situation was genuine.

He added that the incident highlights the growing challenges faced by crematorium workers, who depend on diesel to carry out their services.
