A couple's staycation in Putrajaya turned into a nightmare when they allegedly found bed bugs crawling on their bed just as they were about to sleep

The incident was shared on TikTok by user @ceklatkek, who posted a video showing two bugs on the hotel's white bedsheets.

"Just as we were about to fall asleep around 12.30am, I suddenly saw a small black thing crawling beside my head on the pillow. I thought it was an ant.

"Turns out, it was a BED BUG. I switched on the torchlight, thinking there was just one. But no, there were TWO bed bugs. And there were EGGS too," wrote the user.

The woman said she and her husband jumped out of bed, fearing the insects would cling to their clothes or skin, before alerting housekeeping.

However, they claimed the staff's response left much to be desired.

"The housekeeper came and gave us a new room key, but without even a single 'sorry'. But fine, we were too exhausted, so we decided to complain at check-out the next day. That night, we barely slept," she said.

However, according to the hotel guest, the following morning's complaint to the front desk was also met with little concern.

"The female receptionist just said, 'Oh really?' and smiled sheepishly. Is that your customer service? Do you know bed bugs are not a joke? Is that the way to handle customer feedback? Without even an apology?" the guest fumed.

Frustrated by the alleged lack of professionalism, the customer shared her experience on TikTok, where the video has gone viral with over 1 million views since it was posted less than 24 hours ago

Many netizens also criticised the hotel for its handling of the situation.

In a follow-up video, @ceklatkek said the hotel manager has contacted them directly and issued them a full refund.

However, she urged the establishment to release an official statement regarding the issue to take accountability and to strengthen its commitment to hygiene and customer service for its future guests.

As of writing, the hotel has yet to issue a public response. SAYS has reached out to the hotel for comment but has yet to receive a reply.

So nak dijadikan cerita. Adalah staycation dekat one of the hotels dekat Putrajaya ni. Dah elok nak lelap, dalam pukul 12.30 am macam tu tiba tiba ternampak ada benda hitam kecil lalu kat sebelah kepala atas bantal. Ingatkan semut. Rupanya BED BUGS. On torchlight, ku sangka sekor. Dua ekor ye guys bed bugsnya. Siap ada TELURNYA sekali. Me and husband memang terus bangun sebab kita tahu once bed bug kena dekat badan ke baju etc. Memang azab gatalnya. So kitorang call lah housekeeping pasal bed bugs ni. Pendekkan cerita, housekeeper datang bagi kad bilik baru dengan takde sorry ke apa. Tapi takpelah kan kitorg barai sangat. Esok jela complain dekat time check out. Malam tu mmg sekejap jela dapat tido. Jadinya tengah malam pulak. Check out tadi, my husband complainlah dekat receptionist hotel ni. Tau tak apa jawapan/reaksi perempuan receptionist ni? "Ohh yeke" Sambil senyum kambing. Seriously ZENITH HOTEL PUTRAJAYA? Macam tu your customer service? Do you know bed bugs ni tak boleh buat main? Macam tu je kau terima feedback customer? Dengan cakap sorry apa pun tak? TAKE NOTE GUYS ZENITH HOTEL PUTRAJAYA NI.
