A Chinese national had to beg for mercy after being beaten by members of the public for allegedly causing a fatal accident on KM13 of Jalan Klang-Banting-Port Dickson on 31 December

According to Sinar Harian, the 53-year-old man works as an engineer.

He was accused of causing the death of a delivery rider, who was run over by a lorry due to his alleged reckless driving.

Kuala Langat district police chief Supt Ahmad Ridhwan Mohd Nor @ Saleh said the accident that took place at 4.30pm involved a Toyota Hilux, a Daihatsu Charade, an SYM 110 motorcycle, and a lorry.

"The preliminary investigation found that the accident happened when a Toyota Hilux, driven by a 53-year-old Chinese national engineer, was heading from Klang to Banting," the Kuala Langat district headquarters said in a statement yesterday, 4 January.

"When he arrived at the scene of the accident, he made an illegal U-turn at the traffic light junction. At that moment, the Daihatsu Charade that was trailing behind, driven by a 51-year-old retiree, had to swerve to the left lane and did not see the SYM 110 motorcycle coming from the same direction."

"The motorcycle hit the front of the Charade, causing the motorcyclist, who worked as a delivery rider at a private clinic, to be thrown under a Volvo FM12 lorry that was in the left lane."

The motorcyclist succumbed to injuries sustained on his lower body.
