A 55-year-old woman in China has stunned younger competitors by winning a bodybuilding contest, proving that age is no barrier to strength

According to Chinese online portal hb.dzwww.com, Wang Jianrong has spent over two decades training to build a physique that rivals women half her age.

Her fitness journey began as a way to improve posture and prevent injuries, but it evolved into a lifelong passion for strength training.

She trains at least six days a week, lifting impressive weights — deadlifting 127kg, squatting 95kg, and bench-pressing 72kg.

Her impressive feat earned her the moniker 'Muscle Grandma'.

In March, Wang claimed victory in a national bodybuilding competition, outperforming younger rivals

She hopes her success challenges societal stereotypes about ageing and inspires middle-aged women to pursue fitness.

Medical tests have shown that her body fat percentage has remained between 12 and 15% for years, and she maintains the physical condition of a 30-year-old.

Despite her achievements, Wang has faced criticism, with some commenting that her face looks older than her years

She dismisses such remarks, saying, "There are things more important than looking young. I look old, but I am healthy."

She frequently shares fitness advice on social media, encouraging women to prioritise exercise, maintain a balanced diet, and embrace solitude.

With a son studying abroad, she finds solace in training, using it to manage stress.

"Do not wait for the perfect time to start training," she advises. "Just do 10 push-ups a day and build from there."
