As the group of friends appeared light-hearted and in good spirits, the videos drew attention from Malaysian social media users, who were both amused and concerned

"Weh, update us about the weather. Take care!" one commented.

"Abang, please don't let your passport get wet!" another cautioned.

"From tourist to disaster victim," one user remarked.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, around 4,000 Malaysians are currently stranded in Hat Yai

All are reported to be safe, with most taking shelter in their hotels, reported Malay Mail.

Travellers have been relying on hotel-provided meals and whatever food they managed to buy before shops were forced to shut when water levels rose rapidly after continuous heavy rain.

The Embassy of Malaysia in Bangkok said it has activated its operations teams to assist Malaysians who may be stranded or in need of support.

Those who are in need of assistance may contact the Consulate General of Malaysia in Songkhla at +6681-9901930.
