Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz announced that RM3.8 billion will be allocated for scholarships and study loans
During the tabling of Budget 2023 today, 7 October, Zafrul said that the allocation is to encourage students to pursue their studies at local universities.

Meanwhile, MARA and PETRONAS students' living allowances have been increased. However, Zafrul did not specify how much the students will receive.
Zafrul said that the JPA-sponsored living allowance for students and officers in the country would be standardised and increased by RM100 per month for all levels of study, bringing the JPA living allowance between RM700 and RM900 per month.
