Second Fire Incident At Hospital Sultanah Aminah Leads To Evacuation

The incident happened at about 1.35pm today.

Less than two days after a massive fire erupted at Johor Bahru's Hospital Sultanah Aminah yesterday morning, 25 October, the fire alarm was triggered again at about 1.35pm today

News portal Bernama reported that all the patients and hospital staff were evacuated right away from the main building of the hospital after the smoke was detected. The patients and staff were gathered at the parking lot in front of the building.

The Star Online reported that the fire is believed to have originated from the hospital's Emergency and Trauma Department.

A Bernama reporter on the site, witnessed two hospital staff running out, calling for Ibrahim Omar, the Johor Bahru station chief of the Fire and Rescue Department after the smoke was detected

The Star Online said that a volunteer claimed to have seen smoke coming out of an operation theater in the first floor of the hospital.

They also mentioned that the situation is now under control.

At 3.09pm, Bernama tweeted explaining that the incident was caused by a short circuit cause by an exposed wire that got in contact with the water from cleaning up works

The Johor Bahru Selatan police chief has informed that the main building of the hospital will be closed for 24 hours pending observation and investigation
