A Shah Alam boy landed in hot water when he faked a kidnapping to skip school — after stepping on cat poop

According to the New Straits Times, the 13-year-old lodged a police report alleging that he was nearly abducted on the way to school.

District police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said the boy and his 37-year-old father later went to the district headquarters' Criminal Investigation Department to give their statements.

However, it was found that his statements were completely untrue.

The boy admitted during questioning that the report was lodged as an excuse to his father, as he did not want to attend school after his shoes were soiled with cat faeces

Iqbal said no further action was taken against the boy, who was let off with a stern warning.

The case has since been closed, and the boy's father was informed of the actual circumstances of the "kidnapping".

Iqbal reminded the public not to lodge false police reports, warning that under Section 182 of the Penal Code, anyone who gives false information to a public servant may face to six months' imprisonment, a fine of up to RM2,000, or both.
