9-year-old Mao Shilin from Xi'an, China, recently became the target of a cruel prank when a classmate wrote "2B" on his uniform

The slang term, which means "fool", led to other students taunting the young boy and calling him an "idiot".

Mao, a primary school class monitor, sat in silence throughout the ordeal.

Citing Shanshi News, South China Morning Post reported that Mao initially struggled with the humiliation and kept the incident a secret for two days.

He feared his clothes would not dry in time for school. When he finally confided in his mother, Zhang, she offered to intervene.

Mao insisted on addressing the situation himself. In a viral video with over two million likes, the 9-year-old delivered a well-reasoned speech.

Standing at a podium, he addressed his tormentors during a class meeting.

"When you are bullied, come to me and I will help. But now, is this how you treat me?" Mao asked.

He urged them to consider the impact of their actions, asking if they would be happy if the roles were reversed.

His words left the bullies in tears, leading to apologies. The teacher later praised the boy's maturity, calling him a "man".

She noted that his leadership as a monitor gave the entire class a sense of security.

Zhang shared her pride in a post, admitting her son did something she would not have dared to do in 40 years.

She described his transformation from a "silent sufferer" to a "brave fighter" as he reclaimed his dignity.

Asking for help is not a sign of weakness.
