A woman got into trouble with her company's human resources (HR) department after booking her boss on the cheapest flight

The employee, known as @ceraliza on X, said she only followed her company's policy which was set by HR.

After previously being scolded by HR for spending extra to get home early, the employee decided to follow the rules to the letter.

When tasked with booking her boss's next work trip, she did not look for convenience or comfort.

Instead, she picked the most affordable option available, regardless of the time.

"I chose a cheaper flight with a four-hour layover on a Friday evening. He was pissed 'cause he had an hour drive from our airport and had to cancel plans, so I explained the policy," she wrote in her viral post.

The boss' frustration led to an immediate meeting the following Monday morning.

Rather than receiving a reprimand for the inconvenient booking, the employee noted that the conversation took a flexible turn regarding how to interpret the corporate handbook.

"Monday morning, we had a chat with HR about using 'best judgement' when it comes to booking," the employee concluded.

The post has since gone viral with over 2.4 million views and hundreds of comments from users cheering for the petty win

"Funny how the rule only became a problem when he had to sit through a four-hour layover flight," one X user commented.

Another said: "Nothing teaches management faster than experiencing their own policy firsthand."
