Yesterday, 9 April, photos of Barisan Nasional (BN) flags being put in a Chinese cemetery in Melaka were circulated on Facebook
In the post, the author stressed that the cemetery is a place for people to remember and respect their ancestors and family members. However, the party flags were put up in between tombs of the cemetery.
"It's not a place for you to put your party flags in," the author wrote.
The cemetery is located in Rembia, a town in Melaka.

The photos attracted criticism from netizens for lack of respect for the deceased
Some netizens wrote that putting up party flags in the cemetery is "disrespectful" to the dead.

Another netizen questioned BN, allegedly the one that put up the flags, if it thinks that this move will let the deceased rest in peace.
"What kind of mentality is this?" the netizen asked.

Another netizen questioned if BN really needed the votes from the deceased.
This incident contradicts the royal order in Perlis to not put up party flags or posters at the compound of mosques, surau, cemeteries, and religious schools
Malay Mail Online reported the Raja Muda of Perlis Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail as saying that all parties should show their political maturity, and be moderate in their efforts to secure victory in GE14.
