An army corporal from the Special Warfare Training Centre (PULPAK) in Melaka was seriously injured during a parachute training exercise on Sunday, 28 December
According to Bernama, Corporal Syed Mohd Azayuzil Afifi Syed Mohd Aziz, 32, was injured at about 6.40pm at Padang Encore, Klebang, while performing a free-fall jump as part of preparations for the Malaysian Army's (TDM) 60th Anniversary Show.
Initial investigations found that a sudden change in wind direction during the final phase of descent caused the soldier to make a hard landing.
"Medical officers at the scene provided immediate emergency treatment before the soldier was rushed to hospital," TDM said.
Syed Mohd Azayuzil Afifi is currently receiving treatment at Hospital Melaka and is reported to be in stable condition.

TDM said the welfare of the corporal and his family remains a priority and that all necessary support will be extended throughout his recovery
It added that a board of inquiry has been established to determine the cause of the incident and to enhance safety procedures during training.
"Further updates will be announced from time to time. The public is urged to pray for the soldier's speedy recovery and to refrain from speculation that could cause public concern," TDM said.
Earlier, a seven-second video of the incident circulated on social media, showing the soldier making the hard landing during the drill, which drew concern from netizens.
Meanwhile, Deputy Defence Minister Adly Zahari visited the injured corporal at Hospital Melaka yesterday evening, 30 December
Photos shared on Facebook showed the soldier lying in bed wearing a neck brace.
In his post, Adly said Syed Mohd Azayuzil Afifi sustained a fractured right rib and a neck injury.
"May he be granted a speedy recovery, and may all necessary treatment arrangements be facilitated. Thank you for your sacrifices and devotion to duty for the country," he said.
