Army Corporal Detained After Alleged Assault Of 7 Soldiers, One In ICU

The case is being investigated under Section 325 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing grievous hurt.

An army corporal has been arrested following the alleged assault of seven junior military personnel at a camp in Bentong, Pahang, with one victim reportedly left unconscious

According to Bernama, the incident occurred at the 25th Battalion Camp of the Royal Malay Regiment on Monday, 30 March.

Bentong police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar confirmed that a police report was lodged the following morning by the 49-year-old father of one of the victims.

Preliminary investigations found that the 37-year-old suspect allegedly punched, hit, and kicked the victims on various parts of their bodies

One of the victims, aged 24, reportedly lost consciousness and was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) at Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh, where he remains on breathing support.

The six other victims, aged 19 to 22, were taken to Bentong Hospital for medical checks.

Police arrested the suspect at about 2.30pm on Tuesday, 31 March

The corporal is under remand for four days until 4 April to assist investigations.
