37 Students Escape Unharmed From A Tahfiz School Fire In Rembau

An alert call was made to the fire and rescue department at 1.50am today.

A massive fire gutted a tahfiz school in Rembau early morning today, 28 September

[New Straits Times (NST)](https://www.nst.com.my/news/nation/2017/09/284918/another-tahfiz-school-blaze-37-students-escape-three-treated-smoke) reported that a distress call was made from Yayasan Sofa Astana tahfiz school to the Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue Department at 1.50am.

"Our personnel arrived 10 minutes after receiving a distress call and managed to control the fire in 15 minutes and completely douse it after half an hour," Negri Sembilan Fire and Rescue director Norazam Khamis told [Bernama](http://www.bernama.com/bernama/v8/newsindex.php?id=1395172).

The early morning blaze destroyed 60% of the all-girls two-storey hostel

37 residents who were at the scene escaped the fire unharmed

However, three of them with a history of asthma were rushed to the Tampin Hospital for treatment for inhaling smoke.

The authorities are currently investigating the causes and estimated losses from the fire.
