Batik Air has issued a travel advisory urging passengers to arrive at airports at least four hours before their flights due to increased passenger traffic during the year-end holiday season

In a statement to SAYS yesterday, 23 December, the airline said the advisory is meant to give travellers sufficient time to complete check-in, security screening, and other airport formalities.

"This measure is intended to support a smoother and more comfortable travel experience during peak travel periods.

"Batik Air understands the challenges of travelling during peak periods and truly values passengers' patience and support," the statement read.

Earlier this month, Malaysia Airlines also released a similar advisory, encouraging passengers to arrive at airports earlier than usual for flights between 19 December 2025 and 11 January 2026

The airline advised travellers to complete online check-in between 48 hours and 90 minutes before departure.

"After completing check-in, passengers are encouraged to proceed directly to the security screening area, as the cut-off time for scanning the boarding pass is 40 minutes before departure for domestic flights and 50 minutes for international flights

"The boarding gate will close 30 minutes prior to the flight departure," it said.

The airline also noted that aerotrain services at KLIA may be temporarily replaced with shuttle buses during nightly maintenance from 9pm to 7am between 8 November and 31 December, which could result in longer walking or transfer times to departure gates.

Typically, passengers are advised to arrive at the airport three hours before their international flights and two hours before their domestic flights.

The additional one-hour buffer during the year-end travel period is intended to help travellers avoid delays and reduce the risk of missing their flights amid heavier airport congestion.
