AG Apandi Insists Motive Behind RM2.6 Billion Donation To PM Najib Is Not Important

Malaysia's top prosecutor, the Attorney-General Mohamed Apandi Ali, in an exclusive interview with Sinchew Daily, has now revealed that a son of the late Saudi king was the person who donated RM2.6 billion to Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak.

The A-G, however, refused to provide the identity of the donor.

A-G Apandi also insisted that the motive behind the donation of RM2.6 billion is not important as it is not illegal under Malaysian law

On the other hand, Segambut MP Lim Lip Eng has said that the A-G should list down in detail all monetary transactions – especially those involving politicians – which by his definition are no longer considered graft or corruption so as to avoid waste of time as the hullabaloo involving the RM2.6 billion 'donation' continues to grow

Earlier, in a report published by the New York Times on 5 February, Saudi Foreign Minister reportedly said that the funds given to PM Najib was investment and not donation. Full story, here:
