911 Prank Callers To Face Sanctions

During the first few hours of implementation:
2475 calls in total
75 legitimate concern
1119 dropped calls
304 prank calls
That means out of the total only 3% were real concerns.

Prank callers to be sanctioned
On a report by Rappler, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said during a press con that local telecommunications companies such as PLDT and Globe have the infrastructure in place to monitor and eventually sanction prank callers.
He reminds people of their civic responsibility as a Filipino
"It is part of the civic responsibility of every Filipino to act responsibly and to help each other, and as JFK said, it is not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country. So we also expect the citizenry to be cooperative to the government."

In the USA specifically in Massachusetts, 911 prank callers may be fined or arrested
According to Popcenter(.org): In many communities, making false or harassing 911 calls is a prosecutable offense, punishable with a fine or jail time.
