A 56-year-old homeowner discovered a massive python at his property in Bandar Baharu, Kedah

According to New Straits Times, the homeowner alerted the authorities after noticing the python had already eaten one of his chickens.

The Bandar Baharu Civil Defence Force received an emergency call about the incident at 12.54am on 10 February 2026.

Lieutenant (PA) Abdul Rahim Khairuddin confirmed that civil defence personnel was immediately dispatched to the scene to capture the python

"The operation ended at 1.35am after the snake was captured with a noose," Abdul Rahim Khairuddin said.

Measuring 3m in length, the python is expected to be handed over to the Wildlife and National Parks Department (Perhilitan).

Authorities have warned that the current hot weather is driving snakes from their natural habitats into residential spaces

The public is advised to remain cautious and contact rescue services immediately if they encounter any dangerous wildlife.
