7-Year-Old Girl Rushed To Emergency Ward After Being Bitten By A Leech

A 7-year-old girl was admitted to an emergency ward after reportedly being bitten by a leech during an event held at a rice field in Jasin, Malaka
According to Berita Harian, the incident occurred while the child was playing in the paddy field during the D'Bendang Festival, a rural entrepreneurship event held at Sungai Rambai on Sunday, 21 December.
Police received a report from the emergency department at Hospital Jasin at about 1pm after the child was rushed in for treatment.
She was reportedly experiencing pain in her genital area and bleeding at the time.
Initial examinations found the child had no external injuries.

The child was subsequently referred to Hospital Melaka for further medical evaluation.
Doctors did not rule out the possibility that the injuries were caused by a leech bite.
"However, no elements of traumatic injury or sexual crime were found," a source said.
It is understood that a police report was lodged to fulfil standard medical and procedural requirements.
