New Straits Times reported that the victim was walking to her friend's house at Lorong Lebuh Mahsuri, Bayan around 6.15am when two men on a motorcycle rode past and tried to snatch her handbag

Although the suspects failed to snatch her bag, the vicious attack caused the victim to lose her balance and fall face-first onto the ground

According to The Star, Balik Pulau OCPD Superintendent A.A. Anbalagan said two of the victim's friends witnessed the incident, but were unable to identify the model and registration of the motorcycle as it happened much too quickly and it was still dark at the time of the incident.
