The government has approved a 50% discount on toll charges in conjunction with the upcoming Christmas celebrations, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi announced
He said the discount will be in effect for two days, on 23 December and 24 December, and will involve an estimated RM20.65 million in government compensation to highway concessionaires, reported FMT.

The toll discount will apply to Class 1 private vehicles nationwide, except at toll plazas located at the country's borders
It will also extend to Class 2 vehicles crossing the Penang Bridge toll plazas.
In a statement, Nanta said the move is aimed at easing travel costs during the year-end festive and school holiday period.
"We hope that this 50% discount can partially reduce the burden of costs for Malaysians as they return to their hometowns to visit their family members for Christmas or holidays with their families during the school holiday season.
"This is also in line with the Madani government's aspiration to reduce the cost of living for Malaysians across all faiths, ethnicities and beliefs."
