5 Interesting Things We Learned From The #PiliPinasDebate2016
Lessons in life usually come from experiences — and our moms. But this time, we have our presidentiables to guide us on what to do when you're fighting an adversary — or a heated debate for this matter.

Whether they are a relative, acquaintance or stranger, being respectful to elders is a sign that you value their presence and your values as a Filipino. Hearing the candidates argue about their stand on graft and corruption reminded us how listening and waiting for our turn to speak is a way of showing respect to the elders — even though we know that they are wrong. Or maybe WE are wrong, who knows?

2. Keep your feet on the ground…
Or on the platform. Wherever you are, humility is the smartest weapon to use in any battle. As what our moms told us, pride will never bring us anywhere. It will just eat away the principles that we have been practicing since we were in kindergarten. Now who's ready for the newspaper dance?

3. Never forget where you came from
…or where you grew up and who brought you up. Never allow anyone to judge you based on the country you grew up in. Your skin color, fair or dark, has no relevance whatsoever to your dignity and credibility as a person of power. As the saying goes, "You are your own worst enemy."

4. Know where you stand
It's impossible to hit the target when you don't have a weapon to use. Ready your weapon/s before going to battle. Be aware of your zone and never leave it. Do not trespass the enemy's zone. Stand guard to whatever you believe is right…for you and your country.

5. Honor your country
As the saying goes, "Great power comes with great responsibility" — and humility. You do not need a recognition from a big institution or an intimidating position in the government to become a respectable person. Honor your country the right way: with humility. By doing so, you earn the respect of your fellowmen.
So, have you decided who to vote for?
