24-Year-Old Motorcyclist Loses Leg After Car Runs Red Light At KL Junction

Two motorcyclists were seriously injured after a car allegedly ran a red light and crashed into them at the Jalan Sultan Ismail intersection in Kuala Lumpur early yesterday morning, 2 April
According to the New Straits Times, Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief ACP Zamzuri Isa said the accident occurred at about 4.27am, involving a Honda City and two Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycles.
Initial investigations found the two motorcyclists were crossing the junction on a green light when the car struck them.
One of the victims, a 24-year-old, suffered severe injuries that resulted in the amputation of his left leg, while the other rider, aged 19, sustained fractures to his left arm and leg.

The 25-year-old driver was later arrested at a clinic in Rawang, where he had gone to seek medical attention.
Zamzuri said the driver suffered minor injuries in the hand, while a passenger in the car sustained head injuries.
A preliminary breathalyser test found the driver's alcohol level to be within the legal limit. However, a urine sample has been taken for further screening.
The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving
