A 20-year-old driver's early morning drive ended in a costly mistake after he crashed a Ferrari F8 Tributo at KM1.3 of the Kajang Dispersal Link Expressway (SILK)

The incident, which occurred at around 6am on 5 February, resulted in a police summons for careless driving.

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof said preliminary investigations revealed that the young driver lost control of the supercar while heading towards his destination, reported Kosmo.

The vehicle swerved, struck the central road divider, skidded across the lanes, and came to a halt on the left shoulder of the highway

The Ferrari, belonging to the driver's father, sustained significant damage to both its front and rear sections.

Fortunately, the young driver escaped the wreckage without injury.

Although no one else was injured, the police have taken a firm stance on the incident

"The police advise all road users to practice prudent driving, obey traffic regulations, and remain vigilant at all times to prevent unwanted incidents," said Naazron in a statement today.

The driver was investigated and issued a summons under Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules (LN 166/59) for failing to maintain proper control of the vehicle, leading to an accident

This penalty typically carries a fixed compound fine of RM300.

While this is the standard penalty for a traffic summons, more serious cases of "careless and inconsiderate driving" can be escalated under Section 43(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, carrying court fines of RM5,000 to RM10,000, and up to 12 months' imprisonment.
