2-Year-Old Boy Found Dead Half An Hour After Allegedly Falling Into A Manhole

The boy's father alerted the authorities after he went missing.

A 2-year-old boy was found dead in a sewer after he was believed to have fallen into a manhole in Sibu, Sarawak yesterday, 4 August

According to China Press, the boy's father suspected he had fallen into the sinkhole along Jalan Pedada after the child went missing, prompting him to alert the authorities.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre received a distress call at 6.29pm and immediately dispatched a team of 10 firefighters to the scene.

The firefighters arrived four minutes later and launched a rearch and rescue operation

"At 6.55pm, the victim's body was found floating inside the sewer and was retrieved. The body was handed over to the police," said a JBPM spokesperson.

The boy, identified as Ehthin Ling, was confirmed dead at the scene by Health Ministry personnel.
