Two young siblings emerged unhurt after climbing into a luggage conveyor machine at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA) on Wednesday night, 5 November
According to the New Straits Times, the incident occurred at around 9.30pm when a two-year-old boy became trapped inside the conveyor system, while his three-year-old sister was reportedly exposed to radiation from the screening equipment.
Kota Kinabalu Fire and Rescue Station chief Mohd Hannis Mokthar said they received an emergency call at 9.52pm, prompting a team of firefighters and a fire engine to be dispatched to the scene.
"Upon arrival, the team found that the two children had entered the baggage conveyor area at the KKIA screening zone. The firefighters used specialised equipment to free the trapped child," he said when contacted on Thursday, 6 November.

The children were later handed over to paramedics and taken to Likas Hospital for examination. Both were reported to be in stable condition.
The operation concluded at 10.20pm after firefighters confirmed there were no further hazards at the scene.
Mohd Hannis also reminded parents to closely supervise their children in public areas to prevent similar incidents.
