2 MRSM Students Win 'Top In The World' Award For Scoring Highest Marks Globally In IGCSE

Two students from Maktab Rendah Sains MARA (MRSM) have achieved an extraordinary academic milestone after being awarded the prestigious 'Top In The World' honour in IGCSE examinations

According to a Facebook post by Majlis Amanah Rakyat, Ahmad Soleh Muhaimi Saifuddin from MRSM Kuantan, Pahang, earned a perfect score in both English and Mathematics, while Muhammad Amiruz Zafeer Azlan Shah from MRSM Kuala Kubu Bharu, Selangor, also secured a perfect score in English.

The 'Top In The World' accolade is awarded by Cambridge International Examinations to students who achieve the highest standard mark in the world for a specific subject, a globally prestigious recognition of academic excellence.

In a heartfelt post, the school congratulated Amiruz for his "extraordinary achievement" and celebrated his moment in the spotlight at the Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards 2025 held at Sunway University on 29 May.

"The entire MRSM Kuala Kubu Bharu community is extremely proud of this success. It proves that MRSM students can compete and shine on a global stage, right alongside students from other top institutions," it said.

Beyond academics, both students are also known for their active involvement in extracurriculars and leadership roles

Ahmad Soleh served as the Academic and Innovation Exco in his school's Student Representative Council (BWP) and represented MRSM at both national and international platforms, including the Young Leader Apprentice (Y.A.L.E).

He aspires to become a biomedical engineer and lives by the personal motto: "Always thirsty for exploration."

Meanwhile, Muhammad Amiruz Zafeer is a dedicated athlete who led his team to win the Under-17 volleyball championship and has represented his school in national-level events like the National Science Challenge.

At the same awards ceremony,16 students from Sunway College and Sunway College Johor Bahru were recognised with a total of 20 awards across A and AS Levels.

Among them, Ho Zhengying stood out with three Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards and an offer from Cambridge University.

Sunway students earned accolades across a broad range of subjects.

Claire Chan Wei Sven was recognised with a 'Top in Malaysia' award for Literature in English and Psychology at the AS Level. Other 'Top in Malaysia' recipients at A Level included Phang Jun Shen (Biology), Ng Ning Wei (Chemistry), Chong Kar Mun (Economics), Wong Yan Yee (Law), and Ho Zhengying (Further Mathematics).

At the international level, Sunway students received 'Top in the World' awards in Accounting, Further Mathematics, Mathematics, and Thinking Skills, include Oo Sin Rou, Ngei Xin Yan, Wong Yu Xuan, Elyssa Ayu Binti Yuhasnor Affandy, and James Low Jie Wei.

Ho, along with Khor Choong Ming and Tan Zi Heng from Sunway College Johor Bahru, also earned 'Top in the World' awards for A Level Mathematics.

Some of these students have secured offers to study at the prestigious universities of Oxford and Cambridge:
