A 14-year-old boy from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan has won a BMW 5 Series after saving with Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) for the past two years
Speaking to SAYS at a ceremony to collect the RM332,000 luxury sedan at a BMW showroom in Kuala Lumpur today, 6 February, Che Thaqih Dzakwan said he was shocked and elated when he was told that he had won the vehicle.
He shared that a sedan has always been his dream car.
When asked whether the family planned to keep or sell the BMW, his father, Che Mazlan Che Jaafar, said they plan to use it as a family car for now.
"We don't know what the future holds, but right now, we will use it," the 49-year-old said.
Che Mazlan also revealed that he began saving for his son's education when the boy turned 12, the minimum age required to be eligible for the Premium Savings Certificate (SSP) draw
He described his saving habit as simple: save a little when they have less, and save more when they have more.
Che Mazlan added that he has always taught his son the importance of saving.
"When I have money, I will give it to my dad, and [hopefully], he will put it in the bank, and not in his pocket," Che Thaqih quipped.
Looking ahead, the teen said he hopes to pursue a science-related course after completing secondary school, with the ambition of becoming a successful scientist.
When asked if he had told his classmates about winning the BMW, he said he had only informed his teacher after requesting permission to skip school for the day to attend the ceremony.
Meanwhile, BSN has updated the prizes for this year's SSP lucky draw.
In 2026, the bank will award a total of RM28 million in prizes to 15,969 winners.
To participate, account holders must save at least RM3,000 for 60 days.
Some prize categories require consistent savings to be eligible. The rewards include a BMW iX1, Mercedes-Benz GLA 200, Mini Cooper Countryman, and BMW Motorrad S 1000.
There will also be a monthly RM1 million winner from January to December, with December's winner also taking home a Porsche Macan.
