13-Year-Old Girl Killed By Lorry While Trying To Cross North-South Expressway

The incident was caught on the dashcam of a vehicle on the opposite side of the road.

A 13-year-old girl was killed after being hit by a lorry while attempting to cross the North-South Expressway (NSE)

In a statement, Johor Bahru Utama police chief ACP Balveer Singh said the accident took place around 11am on Friday, 21 March.

The incident, which was caught on a dashcam and circulated on social media, occurred at KM4.8 of the expressway in the northbound direction.

The viral video shows two other people attempting to cross the highway.

According to Balveer, the lorry driver was unable to avoid the girl in time.

"The impact caused severe injuries to the pedestrian's head, and she was pronounced dead at the scene," he stated.

The 60-year-old lorry driver, who was driving from Johor Bahru towards Kulai, was unharmed.

Authorities are investigating the case under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless or dangerous driving causing death
