A 12-year-old boy was injured after a bicycle pedal pierced his stomach in Kampung Charok Sikin, Kedah, on Saturday, 27 September
Baling Fire and Rescue Station chief Assistant Fire Supt Zulkhairi Mat Tanjil said his team was alerted to the incident at 5.30pm, reported the New Straits Times.
A team of seven firemen, led by Senior Fire Officer II Juhairi Osman, rushed to the scene.
The boy is believed to have fallen off his bicycle before the pedal pierced his stomach
"Upon arrival, the team found the boy still at the location and in pain," he said, adding that firemen took about 40 minutes to cut the bicycle pedal using special equipment.
"The operation was carried out carefully to prevent bleeding and internal injuries to the boy," Zulkhairi said.
