An 11-year-old boy has died while his two brothers are in critical condition after their mother allegedly fed them liquid believed to be methadone by accident yesterday, 11 February
According to Sinar Daily, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the 35-year-old mother was arrested after the three boys were rushed to the emergency department at Hospital Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin in Kajang yesterday.
It is understood that the 11-year-old died while en route to the hospital, while his brothers, aged 5 and 10, are still receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).
Their 44-year-old father was also arrested to assist in investigations under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 for allegedly abusing, neglecting, abandoning, or exposing a child to physical or emotional injury.
Methadone is a synthetic drug used to treat chronic pain. It is also an opioid used to manage addiction, such as heroin and morphine dependence.

After the incident, a man claiming to be the boys' uncle left a comment on a TikTok video, claiming that the mother did not intend to give the children the dangerous drug
He claimed that the mother was exhausted after returning home from physiotherapy at the hospital and had mistakenly given the children methadone, confusing the bottle with another medication, as both were the same shape and had white labels.
The person also claimed that the deceased had written a letter to his friends before his death, as if he knew his death was imminent.
