As far as holiday destinations go, Malaysians are probably no strangers to Perth
As one of the nearest "Westernised" travel destinations available to us, Western Australia's (WA) capital city has gradually become an easy and almost obvious travel spot for lengthier getaways that stretch beyond the usual 3D2N timeframe.

However, this familiarity means that Perth has also gained a reputation for being a safe and predictable place with little to see or do, making it seem like more "excitement" can be found elsewhere.
But if you venture out beyond metropolitan Perth and into the rest of WA, you'll find that there are some truly magical experiences to be found
From getting up-close with Australian wildlife amid insanely gorgeous scenery to savouring the freshest seafood and most dazzling wines around, Western Australia has what it takes for a seriously memorable holiday, whether you're going solo or with a group.
To help you get started, here's a 6D5N travel itinerary that lets you experience some of the best sights and flavours Western Australia has to offer
Note: This itinerary includes destinations scattered throughout the state of WA, meaning that driving is required. Renting your own vehicle or booking with a travel agent such as Valentino Holidays is highly recommended.
More resources to help you plan your stay in WA can be found here.
Day 1: Arrive at Perth's CBD
The journey begins with an afternoon arrival into Perth, followed by a straightforward transfer into the CBD. The drive is short enough to avoid post-flight fatigue, while checking-in at a centrally located hotel such as The Adnate lets the rest of the day unfold at an easy pace.
6.30pm: Dinner at KARLA, Stories
Dinner is at KARLA, located within the Stories precinct between the CBD and Northbridge. The restaurant's focus on fusion Asian techniques and use of native Australian ingredients offers insight into the evolution of the Australian F&B scene.
If you're overwhelmed by the menu's sheer variety, you can try the 'Feed Me' menu, which lets the restaurant pick out a number of dishes that best suits your group's preferences.
After dinner: Evening at leisure
After dinner, you'll have enough time to explore the streets and laneways of Perth's CBD on foot. This part of the city comes alive after dark in a low-key way, with small bars, late-night dessert spots, and independent venues tucked between office buildings and heritage façades.
Day 2: See wild dolphins and ride along the Busselton Jetty
7.30am: Depart from the CBD towards Bunburry
10am: Dolphin eco cruise at Dolphin Discovery Centre

In Bunbury, the morning centres on the Dolphin Discovery Centre, where a visit to the Marine Discovery Centre sets the context before boarding a dolphin eco cruise in Koombana Bay.
This experience lets you observe wild dolphins in their natural habitat, with sightings often occurring close to shore in calm waters.
12pm: Continue driving to Busselton
The journey continues further south to Busselton, a relaxed coastal town best known for its long jetty and clear waters.
1pm: Refuel at The Goose
Have lunch at The Goose, a beachfront restaurant overlooking Geographe Bay. The menu leans towards modern Australian fare with an emphasis on local produce, making it a convenient stop before spending the afternoon by the water.

2pm: Busselton Jetty and Underwater Observatory

A short walk leads to Busselton Jetty, where an electric train runs along its 1.8-kilometre length to the Underwater Observatory. Descending below sea level, the observatory offers uninterrupted views of fish and coral that have turned the jetty pylons into a thriving artificial reef.

Back on shore, you'll have time to stroll along the foreshore at a relaxed pace. If you happen to pass Little Otto's Big Choc Shop, it's the perfect stop to grab some locally made chocolate or gelato, especially if you need a quick sugar boost before checking in.
Late afternoon: Check in at Hilton Garden Inn Busselton
6pm: Dinner at Shelter Brewing Co

Have dinner at Shelter Brewing Co, just a stone's throw away from the jetty. The focus is on house-brewed beers and fresh, unpretentious food. If you're into craft beers, you might want to enquire about a tour of the brewery in advance.

Travelling by 4WD, the tour moves between karri forest, sand dunes, and rugged Southern Ocean coastline, including the Yeagarup Dunes, which make up the largest inland dune system in the southern hemisphere.
The contrast between forest and coast is striking, and this highlight activity offers access to areas that would otherwise be difficult to reach independently.
