The very first Tomica Brand Store in Southeast Asia is officially opening in Kuala Lumpur, and it's setting up shop right in the heart of the city at Suria KLCC.

If you're new to the world of mini cars: Tomica is Japan's most iconic die-cast vehicle brand, launched in 1970 by Takara Tomy. They're known for their tiny yet incredibly detailed cars — everything from police cruisers to excavators to real-life Japanese taxis — plus interactive playsets and special-edition releases that collectors scramble to get their hands on.

Many grown-ups today grew up with Tomica, and the brand has built a huge global following thanks to its craftsmanship, nostalgia, and constant stream of limited-edition drops.

While Tomica has long been a favourite among toy collectors, this will be the region's first dedicated Tomica store, giving fans a chance to explore exclusive merch, special collections, and all the tiny cars you've been eyeing online — now in one physical spot.

According to the teaser, the store will open inside Toys "R" Us at Level 2, LC 203, Ramlee Mall

Malaysia is the third place outside Japan to get an official Tomica Brand Store after Shanghai (opened September 2024) and Beijing (opened September 2025).

This KL store is part of a global rollout by TOMY Company, Ltd., which has seen huge success in China.

Both the Shanghai and Beijing stores reportedly hit double their projected sales, fuelled by families, collectors, and adults who grew up loving Tomica.

However, according to Kyodo News PR Wire, the store is set to open on 18 December 2025. Posts on Tomica's Instagram also hint that the opening will happen sometime in December.

Based on the report, here's what you can expect at the new KLCC store:

• A Tomica wall featuring over 2,000 miniature cars lined up in a stunning display
• The playful Wheel Table, a monument of stacked wheels
• A dedicated Tomica Kid's Area
• A Recommended Corner showcasing new arrivals
• Tomica History, an exhibition area highlighting the brand's 55-year legacy

Malaysia's store will also reportedly carry two types of brand-store-exclusive products, plus original items from Japan's Tomica Shop — a big deal for collectors who usually need to hunt these down overseas.

TOMY's senior executive officer, Shunsuke Takeuchi, shared that Southeast Asia has long been a passionate Tomica market, and KL was a natural next step: "We have seen many visitors, primarily families and children who have since grown into adults, demonstrating the love that TOMICA has for Asian consumers."
