The Selangor Forestry Department has announced that all recreational activities within the State Permanent Forest Reserves and Rimba Eco Parks will be temporarily closed to visitors starting 17 November 2025 (Monday) until 31 January 2026 (Saturday).

The closure, which happens around this time each year, is a precautionary measure to avoid accidents and ensure visitor safety during the monsoon season.
With heavy rainfall, slippery trails, and the risk of landslides or flash floods, the department is urging the public to stay safe and plan outdoor activities only after the weather stabilises.
As of August, Sungai Chiling has also been closed for upgrade works until 31 December 2025
Separately, the department announced in July that Sungai Chiling in Kuala Kubu Bharu will remain closed until 31 December 2025 to allow for facility upgrades and the preparation of the Sungai Chiling Sanctuary Management Plan.
The Selangor Forestry Department added that public cooperation during this period is appreciated, as the upgrades aim to enhance visitor experience and preserve the area's natural beauty for the long term.

This temporary closure is also part of a broader effort to protect the forests from damage during the wet season
Intense rainfall can make trails unstable and cause erosion, so giving the ecosystem time to recover helps keep these green havens safe and sustainable for everyone to enjoy later.
Once the skies clear and the monsoon passes, the Forestry Department will reopen the reserves and eco parks to the public.
