Sarawak has a new reason to be proud
At 11 years old, Taylor Louise has earned international acclaim after performing at the Studio Opéra Bastille in Paris and winning two awards at the Paris International Music Competition — a huge achievement at any age, let alone hers.

On 12 December, Taylor made history as the only Sarawakian to perform at the iconic venue, following her participation in the Paris International Music Competition – Grand Prize Virtuoso
She was awarded the Exceptional Young Talent Special Prize, becoming the first Sarawakian to ever receive it, and also clinched First Prize in the Pop Category (ages 10–12).

For her performance, Taylor sang From The Start by Laufey, showing off her vocal control, emotional depth, and musical sensitivity, especially impressive for someone her age.
Known for spotlighting emerging global talent, the Studio Opéra Bastille proved to be the perfect stage for her big moment.
According to The Borneo Post, Taylor was one of the crowd favourites that evening, earning praise from both organisers and audience members for her confident stage presence and heartfelt delivery.
Her invitation to perform came after she stood out among competitors from multiple countries
Speaking after the performance, Taylor expressed gratitude to the people who supported her journey.
"I am very thankful for all the support I have received. It is an honour to represent Sarawak and Malaysia," she said.
In a heartfelt Instagram caption, Taylor dedicated the moment to her parents, coach, best friends, and music buddies, thanked Laufey for inspiring her journey, and gave a special shoutout to her Austrian pianist, Mr Mikhail.
Well done, Taylor!
