Pokémon fans, get ready for some nostalgia! The Pokémon Company has just announced the opening of its very first permanent outdoor theme park: PokéPark KANTO, opening in early 2026

The park will be located inside Yomiuriland, Tokyo's largest amusement park, nestled in the Kanto region — home to the original Pokémon games.

Spanning 26,000 sq m, PokéPark KANTO promises an immersive world where visitors can explore both a town and forest filled with over 600 Pokémon.

Pokémon Forest will be where visitors can observe wild Pokémon living in their natural environment

According to The Pokémon Company, visitors will be able to walk through hilly paths, tunnels, tall grass, rocky trails, and more — spotting Pokémon as they interact, battle, and play.

Meanwhile, Sedge Town is where visitors can catch parades and enjoy Pokémon meet-and-greets

Centred around the Primarina Fountain, the town is described as a meeting place for Pokémon and Trainers from all over the world.

Here, visitors can shop at the Pokémon Trainers' Market for exclusive merch, as well as find a Pokémon Center, Poké Mart, Sedge Gym, and two other attractions (that are yet to be revealed)!

The park's opening coincides with the 30th anniversary of the release of the first Pokémon video games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, which became worldwide phenomenons

In an interview with The Japan News, The Pokémon Company chief creative fellow Junichi Masuda said the park was created to "repay the fans who have loved Pokémon for 30 years".

It will be a space where Pokémon will always be, and where people and Pokémon can have fun together, he said.

"As you walk through the forest, you will encounter many Pokémon, most of which are wild. We hope visitors will enjoy the adventure of feeling like Pokémon Trainers," he explained.

He added that the park's facilities will continue to evolve, with the Pokémon changing depending on the weather or season.

Tickets for PokéPark KANTO are expected to go on sale in late 2025.
