The library is initiated by the state government in collaboration with Keysight Technologies and Eastern & Oriental (E&O) Group and supported by TIME.
Initially opened to the public from 10am to 10pm, the library is now keeping its doors open round the clock from 1 May onwards
The RM2.5 million project, which is located at the former Puspanita building in the grounds of the Penang Free School, opened its doors to the public in October last year.
"**I hope the 24-hour daily operation of the digital library can provide public a choice and a secured place to expand their knowledge,**" Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng said as quoted by [The Sun Daily](http://www.thesundaily.my/news/2212971).
Lim also said that security measures will be taken to ensure the safety of visitors at the library, including a security personnel on standby

While there are no physical books in the library, users can access over 3,000 e-books, e-magazines, and reference journals

According to [The Malay Mail](http://www.themalaymailonline.com/malaysia/article/penangs-digital-library-goes-24-hours-as-refuge-for-students), the library draws between 1,800 and 2,000 users each month. More than 2,000 people have also registered for the library's mobile app, "Readcasa".
To be able to access to all the e-books, the public has to register as a member of the library. **The annual fee is RM60.00 for adult and RM30.00 for students.**

**Besides that, a total of 10 iPads are provided at the library for public use.**
To cater to your supper needs, the library's in-house cafe, Love A Loaf, also operates 24 hours daily
