When LEGO says "go big or go home", they really mean galaxy-level big

The beloved toy company is officially dropping its most expensive set ever, and it's none other than the Star Wars Death Star.

The new set clocks in at a jaw-dropping 9,023 pieces, making it the largest Star Wars set LEGO has ever released

In terms of dimensions, it's no pocket-sized toy either: 70cm tall, 79cm wide, and 27cm deep, which is roughly the size of a small coffee table.

So, you won't just be buying LEGO. You'll be buying a statement piece.

And instead of the old spherical design, LEGO has opted for a vertical slice/diorama look, letting you see and access all the key rooms at once, similar to the Batcave Shadowbox.

It's built for display, storytelling, and plenty of nerdy flexing.

On top of that, the set comes with 38 minifigures, so you can reenact epic battles and iconic movie moments in detail

  • The detention block escape and garbage compactor scare
  • Luke and Leia's dramatic chasm swing
  • Obi-Wan shutting down the tractor beam
  • Vader's chilling "disturbing lack of faith" moment in the conference room
  • The Emperor's throne room showdown with Luke and Vader

… plus some cheeky Easter eggs. According to The Verge, there's literally a stormtrooper chilling in a hot tub.

Malaysian fans can expect to fork out RM4,299.90 for this beast

For context, that's roughly the price of a return flight to Europe, a mid-range laptop, or a couple of months' worth of groceries. Not to mention, one of the priciest LEGO sets ever.

But for die-hard LEGO or Star Wars collectors, the bragging rights (and shelf presence) might just justify the splurge.

By comparison, it beats the Ultimate Collector's Millennium Falcon (RM3,900) and the Titanic set (RM3,200).

But hey, here you're paying for bragging rights, the ultimate shelf presence, and basically an entire LEGO cast.
