It's the age-old debate that's divided Malaysians for decades… How do you actually pronounce 'MILO'? Is it 'Mai-lo' or 'Mee-lo'?
We've all heard both versions thrown around. Your mum probably says 'Mee-lo ais kurang manis', while your friend insists it's 'Mai-lo' because that's how it's pronounced in Australia.
The argument usually ends with a shrug and a sip of the chocolatey goodness, but deep down, we've all wanted to know the truth.
A Reddit poll a few years ago showed that 'Mee-lo' and 'Mai-lo' were neck and neck in votes.
Turns out, there's a good reason this debate even exists
We did a little digging and found a 1983 MILO ad with the jingle, "MILO, MILO, anda jadi sihat dan kuat," where 'MILO' is clearly sung as 'Mee-lo'.
However, in more recent years, MILO's ads have pronounced it as 'Mai-lo'.
So, perhaps that's how the debate started in the first place.
Then in 2022, content creator @christhechindian decided to settle the debate once and for all.
He spoke directly to MILO's business executive officer, Ng Su Yen, and asked her point-blank.
And the verdict? Drumroll, please..
"Let's get this right, guys. It's pronounced correctly as 'Mai-LO'."

There you have it.
But honestly, whether you say 'Mai-lo' or 'Mee-lo', it doesn't change the fact that this malty chocolate drink is basically a Malaysian childhood in a cup
From school sports days to mamak stalls, we'll keep drinking it, no matter how we pronounce it.
