According to a Facebook post by Damiral Imran, he sold his Pokémon card collection for a staggering RM1.87 million to an undisclosed buyer.

Before the sale, Damiral's post on Facebook went viral, with netizens shocked by his vast collection and the price he was asking.

Less than 10 days after his original post, Damiral's collection has officially found a new home.

We reached out to Damiral for more details about the sale, and here's what we learned:

The entire collection was built in just five months

The collector shared that he began his journey on 10 June, and within five months, had amassed a Pokémon collection worth around RM2 million.

"It was a crazy grind, day and night, hunting cards non-stop," he said.

Building a collection of that scale in such a short time is not easy, especially in a hobby where serious collectors can possibly spend years chasing specific cards.

Damiral said he travelled the world to acquire the pieces that made up his collection

"To build my collection, I've flown across the world — the UK, Germany, Italy, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, and Thailand," said Damiral.

"Every trip was about chasing that next card, that next piece of history," he added.

Each destination offered new opportunities to acquire rare and historically significant cards, reflecting the global scale of the Pokémon trading card game scene today.

"To be honest, I was literally sad letting it go," Damiral told SAYS

He admitted that selling the collection came with a sense of loss.

"Every card has a story and memory behind it, but that doesn't mean I'm quitting. I'll use that money to buy even more Pokémon cards for sure," said the collector.

Instead of cashing out and leaving the hobby, he is reinvesting to grow his collection, driven by his passion for the next big find.

"I'm still buying and collecting because it's my passion, and the thrill of the hunt never fades," he said.
