No matter what time of the year you go, there's always something special going on in Sydney:
1. Summer (December – February)
If you're there during Christmas, the Christmas Lights Spectacular at the Hunter Valley is not to be missed. Or you could ring in the New Year in style with the amazing fireworks display at Sydney Harbour. If you're traveling during the Chinese New Year season be sure to check out the festivities at the Lunar Markets.

The bright blue skies and sunny weather of summer makes it the perfect season for hanging out at beaches and going on coastal walks. Popular ones include Bondi Beach (check out Bondi Icebergs for a dip in the saltwater pool), the Bondi to Bronte coastal walk, Manly Beach and Fairfax Walk at North Head and Watson's Bay.

2. Autumn (March – May)
Watch the entire city of Sydney transform into a magnificent display of colours, lights and animation as part of the annual Vivid Sydney festival (25 May – 16 June 2018).
Experience a taste of finest in nature that Sydney has to offer with a visit to the gorgeous Blue Mountains or to one of the various orchards to pick your own in-season fruits (apples and peaches in autumn).

3. Winter (June – August)
What's a winter holiday without giving winter sports a try? Even those with no experience will enjoy skiing or snowboarding at the Snowy Mountains. Or if you'd prefer something more chill, opt to go whale watching instead.

4. Spring (September – November)
Walk along the coastal shore while you check out the world's largest free sculpture exhibition. The annual Sculpture by the Sea exhibition stretches for 2km from Bondi Beach to Tamarama Beach and features over 100 creative sculptures by artists from all around the world.
November is also jacaranda (a type of flower) season in Sydney, so you'll be greeted with the gorgeous sight of trees filled with beautiful purple blossoms.
