Replacement of essential documents

1. Road Transport Department (JPJ)

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has opened a service station at the Putra Heights Mosque Temporary Relocation Centre (PPS) from 5 to 6 April, operating between 8.30am and 1pm. Affected individuals can have their vehicle documents reprinted at the mobile JPJ counters set up at the relief center.

"They only need to present their name and identity card, and they can obtain their documents free of charge," Transport Minister Anthony Loke was quoted as saying in Malay Mail.

JPJ will provide the following services:

  • Renewal of driving licence (LM)
  • Renewal of motor vehicle licence (LKM)
  • Replacement of vehicle ownership certificate (VOC) and vehicle grants
  • Insurance-related advisory service (Total Lost/ Beyond Economic Repair) by Persatuan Insurans Am Malaysia (PIAM) & related agencies

2. Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM)

The Immigration Department of Malaysia (JIM) has announced that it will provide free replacement of Malaysian passports for victims of the Putra Heights gas pipeline fire. Victims whose passports were lost or damaged due to the fire can submit passport replacement applications without any fees at any nearby JIM office.

The conditions for receiving this free passport replacement are as follows:

  1. The passport is still valid with a period of at least six months
  2. Bring the original passport (if it isn't lost to the fire)
  3. Submit a copy of the Police, Fire Department, or Local Authority report

3. Gamuda Cove

Gamuda Cove partnered with their local healthcare providers Cove Family Clinic and Maya Clinic to offer free health examinations for those impacted.

Transportation aid

9. Rapid KL

Rapid KL On-Demand (ROD) is offering six free van services to assist heads of families in returning to their homes to collect personal belongings. The vans will operate between Putra Heights Mosque Temporary Relocation Centre (PPS) and areas like Kampung Puchong Tengah and Kampung Kuala Sungai Baru.

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer has pledged to lend 50 cars to residents affected by the recent pipeline fire in Putra Heights.

"We understand that many need to go to work. Some of them have to send their children to school. So Chery is lending 50 cars," said Selangor Executive Councillor (EXCO) Ng Sze Han.

11. CARSOME

Together with the Transport Ministry and the Selangor State Executive Council for Investment, Trade and Mobility, CARSOME will be supporting the displaced residents by providing up to 50 cars for temporary use.

Vehicle insurance

12. AIA General Berhad

AIA General Berhad is providing assistance to affected customers. Support is available for eligible policyholders with Motor, Personal Accident, and Fire/Home insurance.

To ease the process, the company is also waiving the police report requirement for claims submission.

13. Takaful IKHLAS

Takaful IKHLAS is helping out victims affected by the fire by simplifying claims for eligible Motor, Self-Accident, Residential Protection, or Business Premises certificate holders.

Here are the services offered:

  • Claims: Eligible certificate holders can use the GO Serve portal to claim, with no police report needed
  • Free roadside assistance: Available for IKHLAS Comprehensive Private Car Takaful subscribers via IKHLAS Road Assist

Towing services are also included, with a charge of RM2.50 per km for distances exceeding 150km.

14. Etiqa

Etiqa is providing assistance to all eligible Motor, Personal Accident, Retail Fire, Homeowners and Householders customers affected by the Putra Heights fire.

To ease the claims process, Etiqa will be waiving the police report requirement.

Animal relief

15. Malaysian Animal Organisation (SAFM)

SAFM will be working with four veterinary clinics to provide free first-aid treatment for injured animals and free dog and cat food for displaced and affected pets and strays.

To assist pet owners impacted by the Putra Heights gas explosion, the Malaysian Animal Association is providing free temporary boarding for up to seven days.

17. [Society For The Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) Selangor] (https://says.com/my/news/malaysian-animal-association-spca-animal-relief)

SPCA Selangor is establishing an Animal Relief Post in Putra Heights behind Dewan Camelia, a temporary evacuation centre from 2 April onwards.

They provide emergency pet food supplies, basic first aid for pets, and will collect pet owner information for future search and rescue coordination, pending clearance from authorities. The organisation will also provide general support and counsel to pet owners affected by the disaster.

18. Financial assistance & temporary accommodation

Victims of the Putra Heights gas pipe fire incident will receive RM3,000 per family, distributed by Berjaya Corporation Bhd (BCORP). Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook revealed that BCORP founder Tan Sri Vincent Tan contacted him to offer this cash donation to ease the burden on those affected by the tragedy.

Additionally, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced an initial financial assistance of RM5,000 to owners whose houses were completely damaged for temporary lodging expenses, Malay Mail reported.

For those whose houses were affected, a RM2,500 financial aid will be given as well.

In response to the Putra Heights fire, temporary accommodation is also being offered to affected victims. The free accommodation is available for a tentative 10-day period.

In allocating these spaces, priority will be given to vulnerable individuals, including senior citizens, children, and OKU. Individuals who are in need of temporary accommodation are asked to register here.

19. HISTRONG Design

HISTRONG is pledging RM500,000 to aid 100 families in rebuilding efforts. This support includes 3D interior design consultation, site visits and measurement, space planning and practical guidance, and step-by-step assistance.

To apply, interested individuals can visit this site and fill up their information. HISTRONG's team will then contact them to proceed with the application.

Meanwhile, the Housing and Local Government Ministry, Selangor state government, and PETRONAS have pledged to undertake restoration and rebuilding efforts of homes damaged in the fire, according to The Edge.

This service is available for families restoring their homes, those needing to store salvageable items during post-fire cleanup, and residents relocating temporarily until they can return home.
