IKEA Plans To Open A Physical Store In Sarawak — Finally!
It's about time.
Good news, Sarawak! IKEA, the world-famous Swedish home furnishing giant, is making moves to open a physical store in the state.
No more drooling over those stylish yet functional furniture pieces online and wondering if shipping will cost more than the item itself.
According to Bernama, IKEA Malaysia's country retail director, Malcolm Pruys, recently shared that this expansion is part of their effort to make the brand more accessible to East Malaysians.
As a first step, they launched a dedicated e-commerce platform on 4 February, catering specifically to customers in Sabah and Sarawak
"This dedicated online store aligns with our commitment to finding new ways for customers to interact with our brand.
"We are addressing key accessibility and cost pain points previously experienced by customers in the region, making shopping for their IKEA products easier and more convenient," Pruys said during a media tour at the IKEA Fulfilment Centre in Demak Laut Industrial Park, Kuching.

For years, East Malaysians have either had to wait for costly shipping from West Malaysia or make a trip to KL for the full IKEA shopping experience
With this announcement, we're finally seeing a step in the right direction.
While the exact location and opening date of the physical store have yet to be confirmed, the establishment of the fulfilment centre is a clear sign that IKEA is serious about bringing its iconic blue-and-yellow warehouse experience to Sarawak.
Stay tuned for updates!
