One of KL's bagel havens, Grumpy Bagels, is spreading its wings with a brand-new outlet at Sentul Depot, opening this Sunday, 1 February
Founded in 2024 by former Emirates flight attendant Claire Tan, Grumpy Bagels began as a pandemic project in Dubai.
Claire, inspired by the New York-style bagels she loved during her travels, perfected her recipes at home with her husband as the chief taste tester.
When she brought her vision to Kuala Lumpur, she set up shop in a renovated, abandoned bungalow on Jalan Kamuning.
The café's transformation, from derelict house to cosy, rustic-industrial spot, was documented on social media, quickly turning it into a viral sensation with hour-long queues.

Now, the brand is levelling up
The new outlet, Grumpy Bagels 1905, is set inside the historic Diesel Room at Sentul Depot, a 120-year-old building restored in collaboration with YTL Land and Development.
Every corner of the space has been carefully curated to preserve the vintage charm, from tables and chairs to the overall heritage-inspired design, creating a spot that invites visitors to slow down, soak in the charm, and of course, enjoy bagels.

Inside, Grumpeeps can enjoy over 13 types of bagels, from classic chewy options to loaded savoury and sweet sandwiches
They're also serving up pastas for a heartier bite, alongside a small merchandise area featuring postcards and other Grumpy Bagels goodies, perfect for fans who want a little keepsake.
